New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown has been hit with a lawsuit alleging rape. After Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, insisted that the allegations are civil, rather than criminal, a Pittsburgh prosecutor will “look into” the claims, according to Andy Sheehan of KDKA-TV.
Allegheny County prosecutor Stephen Zappala will be the one investigating the claims. His office would have jurisdiction over only one of the three allegations made by Brown's former trainer, Britney Taylor. She alleges that “Brown walked in with his penis exposed” and then “grabbed and kissed her without her consent” in July 2017 at the wide receiver's Pittsburgh residence.
There are more serious allegations made in Florida. As of the time of writing, it's unknown if Zappala's office will step into that realm. Due to prosecutors looking into the allegations, the NFL offices likely won't step into the case until the legal work is done.
Brown's legal team released a statement on the matter after news broke on Tuesday. In the statement, Brown's lawyer, Darren Heitner, explains that he is not guilty of the charges and will do whatever necessary to clear his name of them.
