Rob Gronkowski’s future with the New England Patriots is still a bit up in the air as he has yet to completely to commit to playing next season. However, it seems as though the Patriots’ star tight end remains highly invested in the Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees rivalry.

Gronk proved as much when he tweeted his excitement about the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox getting into a bench-clearing brawl when Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly drilled Tyler Austin in the seventh inning.

Apart from the brawl itself, Gronk likely would’ve appreciated the violent swing of the bat Austin did on the ground after Kelly drilled him in the back. It was reminiscent of Gronk’s trademark touchdown celebration of spiking the football. Austin also spiked his helmet before going all ‘Hulk smash’ on Kelly.

Knowing Gronk, he likely wouldn’t have minded getting into that action. The Red Sox certainly could’ve used a big unit like Gronk out there to counter the Yankees’ twin towers of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.

But while Gronkowski was but a mere spectator to the fight, he did sound as if he enjoyed himself, as did a good number of fans who are into baseball brawls.

It remains to be seen whether Gronkowski will be in attendance for the start of the Patriots' offseason workout program, which begins next week. If he doesn't show, he may have a bit more time to watch baseball and hope for more bench-clearing brawls to break loose.
