Breaking news: The New England Patriots are really good again. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have this team looking better than ever three weeks into the regular season. The Patriots have not been challenged yet. Their first three opponents have a combined record of 0-9, but it is the nature of how New England is winning.

New England is outscoring their opponents 106-17 in 2019. It does not matter who the opponents are, dominance like that is impressive. Brady has thrown for 911 yards with seven touchdowns and no interceptions so far this season. He is utilizing a shiny new toy so far and his name is Phillip Dorsett.

Unknown Weapon on New Look Patriots

Let's face it, the Patriots never have the best weapons. No one knew who Julian Edelman was before New England. Brady has turned receivers like Danny Amendola and Chris Hogan into capable NFL receivers who landed contracts elsewhere.

Rob Gronkowski is no longer lining up in New England, Josh Gordon is still unpredictable, and the Antonio Brown saga lasted about a week in Foxborough. Edelman has been banged up despite leading the team in receptions and yards through three games. Number two on that list is Dorsett.

The fifth-year receiver could finally be having his breakout season in the NFL. Dorsett set career-high marks in 2016 with the Indianapolis Colts with 33 catches and 528 yards. So far in 2019, Dorsett has 13 catches for 187 yards and a team high three touchdowns. He burst onto the scene in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers with four catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots' backfield will be used a lot with Sony Michel, Rex Burkhead, and James White all returning. White is the best receiver out of the group, but his production is down so far this season. Dorsett has emerged as one of Brady's favorite targets early in the season.

At 5-foot-10, Dorsett is a small receiver who uses his speed and route running to get open. The best thing about Dorsett is that he is reliable. With Brady at quarterback, receivers don't have to worry about anything but catching the ball placed in their hands.

Having a guy that can make plays down the field and create mismatches with his speed is key. Gordon is likely going to end up being the more hyped up deep threat, but Dorsett may very well end up being the more productive option.

The Patriots are ready for yet another deep playoff run. Moving forward, Phillip Dorsett will play a major role in getting his team to the playoffs and, hopefully, back to the Super Bowl.
