The New York Giants lost to the Washington Football Team on a last-second field goal after Dexter Lawrence was called for an offsides penalty. The Giants fans didn't hold back either after the tough loss, and of course Lawrence was at the center of it.
Lawrence spoke about the penalty and the loss with reporters after the game and got brutally honest about the call.
Dexter Lawrence on zoom: “That’s on me. I gotta be more disciplined in that time, a critical situation. … I just gotta do better. …The refs call what they call.”
You weren’t offsides?
“That don’t really matter. My opinion don’t matter.” #NYG— Kim Jones (@KimJonesSports) September 17, 2021
Lawrence was called offsides and Dustin Hopkins missed the field goal, but the play was called back and Hopkins proceeded to make the next kick. However, the call was heavily criticized, and rightfully so.

Yeah, interesting call, and the Giants' defensive lineman didn't acknowledge if the call was correct or not, but in the clip above it looks really close.
Nonetheless, Lawrence received some feedback from Giants head coach Joe Judge, who wasn't happy with the way things turned out on Thursday night as Washington escaped with the victory.
The Giants are now 0-2, and while many want to blame Lawrence solely due to the penalty, there are a lot of reasons for the loss. However, the Giants lineman has taken responsibility whether or not the call was correct, and they will focus on trying to get on the victory column in Week 3.
