The general consensus is that the New York Giants will be taking a quarterback with the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft later this month. After all, Eli Manning is 38 years old and is clearly on the decline, and with one year remaining on his deal, it would really behoove the Giants to find a young signal-caller sooner rather than later.

Manning is perfectly at peace with the likelihood that New York will, in fact, be taking his successor in a couple of weeks:

“I figure the Giants are gonna get a young quarterback, I understand that,” said Manning, according to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record. “Hey, I still have to do my job and do my part. My job, as I see it, is to go out there and play quarterback and win football games.”

The two-time Super Bowl MVP is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 4,299 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.4.

Manning has played his entire 15-year NFL career with the Giants, making four Pro Bowls along the way in addition to his pair of Super Bowl titles.

New York won just five games this past season and has made the playoffs just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.

As a result, the Giants are in clear rebuilding mode, as evidenced by the fact that they traded away wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and linebacker Olivier Vernon earlier this offseason.
