It may have been an odd way to end his first NFL practice, but New York Giants rookie Kadarius Toney just proved why the team made the right decision in drafting him.

The former Florida standout ended up practicing in a bare right foot because his cleats were the wrong size, which led to Toney actually tweaking his right foot. But, it didn't stop the wide receiver, ultimately running routes and participating in some drills with no shoe on one foot.

“I think it was just the wrong size,” Toney said, via the New York Daily News. “They’re figuring that out right now. . . . I do whatever it takes, you know what I’m saying? I probably have [done that before], honest. I don’t remember. It’s just me. That’s the dog mentality.”

The Giants selected Toney with the 20th overall pick in last month's 2021 NFL Draft, adding another target out wide for quarterback Daniel Jones. Toney wasn't going to let a small roadblock stop him from proving himself from day one, either.

“Like if I was limited to anything, I just had to deal with that,” he said. “Nerve-wise, I was eager to go out there and show the coaches what I can do. They came and took a chance on me. The least I can do is show them my ability and what I can actually bring to the organization.”

Right away, it's clear the Giants got a good one. He's full of heart and will do anything to be on the field and contribute. Toney caught 10 TDs in his senior season with the Gators and should definitely have a role in the offense in year one.
