Projected No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray visited the New York Giants on Thursday.

Murray, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners, met with members of the Giants organization on April 11, per NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport (via Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith).

Kyler Murray, Oklahoma's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, is visiting the Giants today, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Murray has already visited the (Arizona) Cardinals, who are widely expected to draft him with the first overall pick.

So there's a good chance that the Giants, picking sixth, won't get the opportunity to select Murray.

But the draft is still two weeks away, and is unpredictable enough that no one should assume they know that Murray is going to end up in Arizona.

It's possible that he could fall all the way to the Giants at No. 6, or that the Giants could trade up and take him.

It seems the Giants have their sights set on Murray. An ESPN report said head coach Pat Shurmur and senior vice president of player personnel Chris Mara had plans of meeting Murray after his pro day in Oklahoma last month.

The same ESPN report is also consistent with Smith's assessment: Murray will likely become the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Giants must trade up if they have plans of getting Murray.

New York is on the lookout for a potential successor for 38-year-old Eli Manning at quarterback. Manning enters the last year of a four-year, $84 million contract extension he signed on September 12, 2015.

Despite the Giants' need for defensive players (they ranked 24th in total team defense in 2018), they also need to look for Manning's heir apparent. That could wait until 2020, when the likes of Tua Tagovailoa and Jake Fromm turn pro.

However, it seems Murray is a can't-miss prospect for the New York Giants.

If Murray does end up wearing Giants Blue and White, it will surprise many NFL aficionados. Who knows? New York may end up scoring the biggest coup of the 2019 NFL Draft.
