New York Giants safety Landon Collins is hard at work to repair his relationship with cornerback Eli Apple. Collins thinks the team should keep Apple, the teammate he controversially called a “cancer” a couple weeks ago.
“I think the organization should keep him,” Collins said per the New York Post’s Zach Braziller. “He's a first-rounder. He does a good job when his head is on straight on the field. … I want him to be here. I want him to be under my wing, and I can continue pushing him, continuing teaching him how this game is and how this business goes, and help him grow up as much as I can.”
Collins believes his relationship with Apple can be mended despite all the drama that’s gone on between the two. He also hopes to help Apple get into the mindset of playing football to be one of the best players.

The former top-10 pick played in just 11 games and was suspended for the final game of the year. He and Collins clashed when Apple denied Collins’ claim that he was trying to help Apple through his struggles. Collins called Apple a “cancer” in response but quickly apologized for his comment.
Collins says he and Apple haven’t spoken since the last week of the regular season, and wouldn’t confirm if any apologies have been said on either side. However, he does intend to reach out to Apple soon and spend some time with one another during the offseason.
