The New York Giants have requested permission to interview New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for their head-coaching vacancy, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Giants and Panthers now have requested permission to interview Patriots' OC Josh McDaniels for their vacant HC job, per source. Browns already have requested permission as well, so that's three potential opportunities.

The news comes on the heels of the Giants firing Pat Shurmur from his post as head coach on Monday morning.
McDaniels is currently in his second stint as Patriots offensive coordinator. He landed his first NFL coaching job back in 2001 when he took over as a personnel assistant for New England. He then became a defensive assistant in 2002 and held that position for two years before being promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2004.
The Pats proceeded to elevate McDaniels to offensive coordinator in 2005, a job he maintained through 2008 before leaving to take the Denver Broncos' head-coaching position. McDaniels' stint with the Broncos did not last long, as he went 8-8 in his first season and was just 3-9 in 2010 before being fired.
The 43-year-old moved on to the St. Louis Rams, where he took a job as offensive coordinator in 2011 prior to returning to the Patriots in his offensive coordinator role in 2012. Of course, in February 2018, McDaniels was hired as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, but had a change of heart and decided to return to New England.
The Giants went 4-12 this season and went 9-23 overall in Shurmur's two years at the helm. New York has missed the playoffs each of the last three years and has made the postseason just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.
If the Giants want to land McDaniels, they will certainly have some competition, as numerous teams are reportedly interested in him for their respective head-coaching openings.
