On Tuesday afternoon, the New York Giants shook up the NFL world by announcing that Russell Wilson would no longer be the starting quarterback following his disastrous performance on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs. Instead, rookie Jaxson Dart will now be taking over the reins following his stellar performance during the Giants' preseason slate.

Despite the frustration that understandably comes with being benched, Wilson is still finding ways to keep a positive outlook.

“…You can control your attitude and your gratitude… I love the game, I love the process, and I respect it,” said Wilson, per Madelyn Burke of MSG Network on X, formerly Twitter.

Wilson has long been known as a humble, team-first player, so it's no surprise to see him taking that job even after he was demoted in the Giants' depth chart in favor of a rookie.

Ever since the New York Giants made the move to Jaxson Dart as their new starting quarterback, there have been two broad schools of thought: one, that New York made the right decision in handing over the keys to their first round draft pick, and two, that the Giants are throwing Dart into the fire and essentially setting him up to fail without giving him time to properly develop.

Only time will tell which outlook on the situation ends up being accurate. For now, the Giants will have to work quickly to get Dart ready to face a Los Angeles Chargers defense that is among the NFL's elite units, even with the injuries they've suffered recently, headlined by Khalil Mack.

During the preseason, Dart looked every bit of his first round status in the NFL Draft, but of course, the majority of that occurred against teams' second and third string defenses, a far cry from what he will experience on Sunday afternoon.

In any case, Dart and the Giants will take the field against Justin Herbert and the Chargers on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM ET from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
