New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley is good. Really good, in fact.

During the Giants' season finale against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, Barkley surpassed 2,000 yards from scrimmage for the season, becoming the third rookie in NFL history to achieve that mark.

Edgerrin James and Eric Dickerson is some pretty good company.

On the year overall, Barkley has rushed for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns while hauling in 91 receptions for 721 yards and four scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Barkley, who played his collegiate football at Penn State University, was selected by New York with the second overall pick of the NFL Draft back in the spring, with the Giants opting to roll with him over the many quarterbacks available at that spot.

New York's quarterback situation for the future may be in flux, but it seems safe to say that it made a pretty good decision by deciding to draft Barkley.

Barkley has now put together seven 100-yard games this season, with his best game of the year coming in a win over the Washington Redskins earlier in the month when he carried the ball 14 times for 170 yards and a touchdown.

The 21-year-old also had an incredible game in Week 2 when he caught 14 passes for 80 yards.

As for the Giants this season? Well, they have had better years.

They entered the game against the Cowboys on Sunday with a record of 5-10 and will miss the playoffs for the second straight year. The Giants have made the playoffs just once since winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.
