Saquon Barkley was given a timetable of four to eight weeks to return to the field after spraining his ankle. Contrary to belief, the New York Giants running back claims he can “beat” the ankle timeline that was given to him per Ian Rapoport.

Last Sunday, on the play that Barkley suffered his ankle injury, it appeared to be a fairly serious injury. The Giants featured running back was unable to put any weight on his ankle and he had to be helped into the locker room.

However, when Barkley says he is going to do something, it is safe to believe that he is going to do exactly what he says. The superstar running back was on crutches and a walking boot last Sunday, but that won't deter him from attempting a return sooner rather than later

Prior to his injury, Barkley had totaled 237 yards and two touchdowns on 37 rushing attempts. The dual-threat running back also has 11 receptions for 74 yards on the season.

At 5-foot-11, nearly 230 pounds, Barkley is a freight train with quads the size of a human head. Since his days at Penn State, Barkley has been a gym rat and is always finding ways to improve his game.

Therefore, it shouldn't come as a surprise if the young running back is in the backfield again ahead of schedule. Regardless of if he actually does it or not, Barkley is going to spend countless hours getting himself in position to play.

Until Barkley makes his awaited return, Wayne Gallman will see an uptick in his touches in the Giants offense.
