The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys provided for one of the more chaotic finishes to a playoff game in recent memory on Sunday.

Even as the 49ers seemed as if they were going to comfortably pick up an NFC wild-card win over their longtime NFC rival, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made it interesting late. He guided the Cowboys to a pair of late scoring drives that brought Dallas to within a touchdown of taking the lead.

Even after a hectic fourth quarter that included crucial penalties and a questionable quarterback draw call from the Cowboys, the 49ers prevailed in the end with a 23-17 victory.

For 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, it became too close for comfort over the late stages of the game.

“It was kind of getting crazy at the end,” Samuel said after the game.

Samuel shined in the contest, as the versatile offensive talent recorded 110 yards from scrimmage and one rushing touchdown. That touchdown score from the third-year wideout proved to be the game-winner for the 49ers.

In the big picture, Samuel once again showcased to both the 49ers coaching staff and front office on just how valuable he can be to the team in critical situations of a game, which could be a decisive factor in possible contract extension talks later this year.

For now, an NFC divisional round showdown against the Green Bay Packers awaits Samuel and the 49ers. For a team that essentially has nothing to lose, the NFC West powerhouse sure will aim to play the role of spoiler for the third straight week.
