Gil Brandt has a bone to pick with a few people who question Kyler Murray and his commitment to the game, and he has made that clear on Twitter.
In an extended Twitter thread, Brandt made clear that what he saw during the NFL Combine was a very different player from the one others saw. He said Kyler Murray was hard-working and dedicated to the craft of football, someone who was willing to work extra hard to make sure his team's coach — whoever that ultimately may be — was satisfied with his work.
A full transcript of Brandt's thread is below.
About this Kyler Murray situation: 1) Only 1 team put him in front of white board. 2) The questions about leadership, study habits run counter to my experience w/ Kyler, who I've known since he was a HS soph. Have known his dad for 30 years. Honestly, it all sounds fabricated.

NBC Sports is reporting that Charley Casserly — who seems to be a drama-stirrer, as we'd previously reported — was the one who created this line of thought surrounding Murray by making critical comments about his performance during the NFL Combine.
Article Continues BelowCasserly said Murray wasn't very knowledgeable about the sport, and that he didn't have high hopes for him in the future.
“I'm not going to give you details 'cause that's confidential, but the board work, where you test the guy on his football knowledge, his knowledge of his scheme and potential of things he's seen in the NFL was not very good, at all. Seems like he's an instinctive, reactive player. You can call it street football, right, but obviously he's very good at it. The tape is very good. A lot of good things on the tape.”
It will be interesting to see where Kyler Murray ends up in the future.
