Earlier this week, the White House on behalf of President Donald Trump sent out a press release stating that the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles were no longer invited to celebrate their championship.
Since then, there has been plenty of commentary regarding the situation with much of that coming from the professional sports world in support of the Eagles. According to TMZ Sports, soon-to-be-inducted Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens stated that the president was not uninviting the Eagles but rather that the team didn't want to go.

There is much credence to this stance given that many of the players have been outspoken in opposition to many of Trump's political values and beliefs. This alone likely made any chance of them agreeing to go quite farfetched from happening given that the team didn't show a willingness to go.
Instead, Trump likely sent out this statement in order to attempt to get in front of the situation to make it look like he was taking away the invite to the White House. It had been known for quite some time that the Eagles were a bit uneasy to go given that they didn't want to be around the president. This may continue to be spun by Trump in order to put him on top publicly.
There is truly no real legs to his stance since many players didn't want to attend the White House, which has seen other champions from other professional sports league such as the Golden State Warriors to choose to go the same route with that situation last year. If anything, this certainly won't be the last time that Trump will be spurned.
