The skills challenge has become one of the more notable aspects of the Pro Bowl in recent years. It appears the AFC got the weekend off to a promising start by winning the Best Hand Competition.

The contest pitted Andrew Luck, Eric Ebron, Deshaun Watson, and Juju Smith-Schuster against Mitchell Trubisky, Mike Evans, Russell Wilson, and Adam Thielen. The AFC was able to edge out the NFC thank to Smith-Schuster's spectacular finish, via NFL Twitter

The result should come as no surprise. Luck and Ebron clearly had an edge over the competition thanks to their Indianapolis Colts connection. They were also one of the most prolific quarterback/tight end combinations in the 2018 NFL season. However, it was Watson and Smith-Schuster that were able to finish strong for the victory.

Aside from the win, Ebron also caught plenty of flak from Detroit Lions fans for his participation in the hands competition. It is no secret that he struggled with drops during his tenure in Detroit. As a result, the Lions ultimately parted ways with him prior to the 2018 campaign. However, he managed to make himself at home as Luck's favorite red-zone target and they got to keep their connection going in Orlando because of it.

Meanwhile, Watson and Smith Schuster are two of the most promising, young talents at their position. Both players may have suffered disappointing ends to their season. However, it is safe to say that they will become regulars in this event at the Pro Bowl for years to come.
