The Green Bay Packers played a phenomenal season as they won the AFC North with a record of 13-3. However, The Green Bay Packers fell one game short of heading to Super Bowl LIV. General manager Brian Gutekunst recently expressed that he tried adding an “explosive offensive player” at the trade deadline in October.

“As we got through the first part of the season before the trade deadline, we were looking to see it made sense to add another explosive offensive player,” Gutekunst said Friday. “The opportunities to do that were not many, and the ones that were were not particularly sound value, in my opinion. We looked at that. I was also very optimistic that some of our young players would improve and get us where we wanted to be.”

Receiver Davante Adams led the team in receiving yards with an astonishing 997 yards. However, their second-leading receiver Allen Lazard only had 477 yards. The Packers' offense struggled consistency and was very inefficient throughout the season.

There were multiple offensive players that were available at the trade deadline like Mohamed Sanu and Emmanuel Sanders. Ultimately, Gutekunst decided to stay put and not pursue a trade.

According to Over The Cap, the Packers will have $32.26 million in cap room heading into the offseason. Gutekunst has confirmed that he'll be seeking to add more depth at the wide receiver position this upcoming offseason. Adding another offensive player this offseason will certainly be helpful for Matt LaFleur who is seeking to take a big step in his second season.
