Dwayne Haskins was considered by some to be the most talented, NFL-ready quarterback from the 2019 draft class, so you would think it might bother him to see Kyler Murray and Daniel Jones starting for their respective teams while Haskins sits on the Washington Redskins' bench.

But the rookie does not seem to be troubled by his lack of playing time, saying that he is happy for his classmates and that not starting during your rookie year isn't indicative of much of anything.

“No, I'm happy for those guys,” Haskins said on Friday, according to John Keim of ESPN.com. “It's easy to look at the rookie class and be like, ‘Rookies are playing, why am I not playing?' I want to be like Tom Brady and Drew Brees and that's something that doesn't happen overnight. Tom didn't play at first; Aaron Rodgers didn't play at first.”

Haskins makes a good point.

First-year quarterbacks don't always jump into the fray immediately, and some of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game sat and watched during their rookie campaigns.

“Everyone has a different path and journey,” said Haskins. “That's good for [the other rookies] and that's the situation they're in and I'm not.”

Of course, in today's game, rookie quarterbacks seem to start quicker than in previous eras, but the Redskins have opted to take it slow with Haskins.

To be fair to Washington, Case Keenum looked very impressive over the first couple of weeks before his horrific Week 3 performance against the Chicago Bears, so sitting Haskins thus far has not looked too bad.

But if Keenum's struggles from Week 3 continue, Haskins will almost surely get the nod at some point in 2019.

The Redskins will take on Jones' New York Giants on Sunday.
