Gordon was placed on the injured reserve list by the Patriots just over a week ago, which seemed to be a puzzling move at the time given that Gordon's knee issue did not seem severe enough to warrant a trip to injured reserve.
However, it was then revealed that New England planned on releasing the wide out, and the Pats did just that on Thursday.

Gordon was reinstated in August.
