Smith signed with the Seahawks in April but news emerged not long after that he was wanted for second-degree battery. He ultimately turned himself into Louisiana Police but was later released on bond. The former All-Pro pash rusher with the San Francisco 49ers was suspended from the NFL between 2016 and 2019 for various off-field issues.

Smith had previously been released by the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders before three breakout seasons with the Niners from 2011-2014 where he won Defensive Rookie Player of the Year.
In 2020 with the Cowboys, Smith played 16 games, collecting 48 tackles and five sacks. In 75 career games in the league, Smith has 52.5 sacks. It's unknown what the next step will be for him after leaving the Seahawks but hopefully, someone will take a chance on Smith as he looks to turn around his career and put his legal issues in the past.
