It has been a grueling process for the Philadelphia 76ers. Fortunately, it appears Sixers point guard T.J. McConnell feels their time has finally arrived.

There was plenty of hype surrounding Philadelphia coming into the 2018-19 NBA season, especially with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons leading the charge. Expectations only increased even more with the acquisition of All-Star forward Jimmy Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

T.J. McConnell believes they are ready to make that jump from pretenders to contender, and he solidified that notion when he claimed that this year is “championship or bust” for the Sixers, via The Players' Tribune

McConnell wrote.

“But I also know this: “championship or bust” — it’s just a fancy way of saying “win or lose.””

“We’ve done plenty of one. And we’re getting pretty damn good at the other.”

If there were those that did not believe there were championship expectations in Philadelphia, they certainly do now.

McConnell touched on a number of topics in his piece. One of the most prevalent was his detailing of the excruciating losses that the Sixers endured just to get to this point. It is no secret that “The Process” has taken some time to come to fruition. Fortunately, it appears they have finally provided some credibility to it.

The Sixers now boast one of the most promising trio in the league in Simmons, Embiid and Butler. Philadelphia's newfound star power has only generated even more hype to their resurgence. Although they are far from a finished product, their early success already has them pegged as potential contenders in the East.
