Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has won two NFL MVP awards in his illustrious 13-year NFL career. The most recent one came in 2014, one year after having his season cut short due to a broken collarbone.

Rodgers suffered another collarbone injury in 2017 which limited him to just seven games and saw the Packers miss the playoffs for the first time in nine years. He tells Mike Spofford of Packers.com that he intends to come back and claim another MVP award just like he did the last time.

“I plan on doing that again,” he said with his trademark smile.

Rodgers and the Packers were on their way toward another strong season in 2017 as they came out of the gates with a 4-1 record through five games. However, things went downhill from there as he broke his collarbone due to a hit from Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr in Week 6. He missed virtually the rest of the season as the Packers went a mere 7-9.

As long as Rodgers is healthy enough to be on the field, he’s more than capable of putting together MVP-caliber numbers. He can rack up the passing yards and the touchdown passes with just about any receiving corps he has at his disposal. He’s just that good.

However, wins have been paramount in him being named the MVP for the first two times in his career. The Packers went 14-1 in 2011 and 12-4 in 2014. He’ll need to get them back up to that level in order to be in serious consideration once again for the award.
