The Seattle Seahawks have had one of the most active offseasons in the NFL.
It began with a franchise-altering trade with the Denver Broncos in which the Seahawks shipped off quarterback Russell Wilson. As a part of that package, Seattle received the ninth overall pick in this year's draft.
The Seahawks' roster has a ton of holes in it, but the offensive line is among the biggest concerns. That's where former Mississippi State offensive tackle Charles Cross comes in. Cross is one of the premier linemen of this draft class, and he would be an ideal fit for a Seattle team suddenly on the brink of a rebuild.
Charles Cross Is Best Seahawks Fit In 2022 NFL Draft
3. He's one of the top prospects in the entire draft
The offensive line class this year is particularly deep. Alabama's Evan Neal, NC State's Ikem Ekwonu and Cross are all projected to be top-10 picks.
Because of how strong this class is at left tackle, it's possible that Cross falls to the Seahawks at number nine. If Cross does end up falling that far, Seattle will have the easiest decision of the first round. The former Mississippi State Bulldog is a top-five player in this year's draft class, and the Seahawks could get great value by selecting him at ninth overall.
2. He fills a positional need
This one is obvious. Seattle has struggled along the offensive line for years now, and the position group only got worse over the offseason. Starting left tackle Duane Brown left in free agency, so the Seahawks are currently set to enter the season with Greg Eiland and Jake Curhan as their two starting tackles. That would easily be the worst tackle duo in the NFL, so something has to be done.

1. Cross plays one of the most valuable positions on the field
Seattle could address one of the most important positions on the field with Cross. Left tackles are nearly impossible to come by in free agency, and they cost an arm and a leg to acquire via trade.
The offensive line is often the most important part of a rebuild, as there have been countless offenses that have failed because of poor line play. Even if newly acquired quarterback Drew Lock is Seattle's starter, he'll need a decent offensive line to make anything happen. Sending any signal-caller out behind the guys the Seahawks have right now is almost certainly a recipe for failure.
In order to begin the rebuild correctly, Seattle should pursue upgrades along the offensive line, and Cross is the perfect guy for them to kick off that process.
