Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner has one year left on his contract, but it doesn't look like he is going to be playing elsewhere after 2019.

The Seahawks and Wagner are getting set to negotiate a new deal that would keep Wagner in Seattle beyond 2019, but the catch is that the 28-year-old will actually be representing himself in contract talks, according to Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune.

While Wagner would be willing to play out the 2019 campaign without a new deal, he would like to have the security of knowing he will definitely be with the Seahawks long term heading into next season:

“Would I like to be taken care of before the (2019) season? That’d be great,” Wagner said. “If I’m not, that wouldn’t be the end of the world. I understand this is a business, and I am prepared for anything that happens. So if they sign me before then, cool. If they don’t, cool, too.”

Wagner then added that he absolutely wants to remain in Seattle:

“But, you know, I want to be here, he said. “This is where I want to be for my career. This is an amazing city, amazing fans, amazing organization. So I would love to be here. I’m going to make sure the business takes care of itself.”

The five-time Pro Bowler said that he has consulted with former teammates Richard Sherman and Russell Okung on how to negotiate his own deal, as they both have done the same thing in the past.
