Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed had some interesting comments when asked about the team's Week 15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
The Seahawks were among the hottest teams in the NFL prior to the defeat at Levi's Stadium, with Pete Carroll's squad winning four in a row before the Niners spoiled the fun.
It was undoubtedly a surprising loss for Seattle, and it's one that has players and fans trying to figure out where things went wrong.
And one player, in particular, had some pretty straightforward thoughts on the matter.
From Sports Radio KJR in Seattle:
Full quote by
#Seahawks DT Jarran Reed: “I don't think they could smell our jock-straps if you ask me. I don't think they're that good of a team. Just personally speaking in my opinion. But we shot our own selves in the foot. I mean, they scored one legit touchdown. That was it.”
That may not be a quote that makes San Francisco fans all that happy, but it's obvious that Reed feels pretty strongly about the Seahawks being responsible for their own problems.
Luckily for Reed and company, they're still sitting in good shape when it comes to locking up a playoff spot in the NFC. Even with the disappointing loss, the Seahawks stay as the No. 5 seed in the conference with two games left in the regular season.
Seattle will have a huge opportunity to take a step closer to a postseason berth when it hosts the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16.
