The Seattle Seahawks wrapped up their 2021 regular season on Sunday with a win over the Arizona Cardinals, but some troubling news emerged in the aftermath. Early Monday morning, Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to TMZ.

TMZ reports that Smith was arrested near 2:00 am on Monday morning following Seattle's regular-season finale. Washington State Patrol told TMZ that the arrest took place in King County in Washington. The Seahawks had arrived back in Seattle from Glendale, AZ just hours before his arrest, following their Week 18 win over the Cardinals.
Law enforcement reports that Smith was pulled over for driving over the speed limit in the early hours of Monday morning. He was booked into King County Jail on suspicion of DUI following his arrest, and reportedly spent seven hours behind bars before being released later the same day.

Smith started three games for the Seahawks in 2021, stepping up after Russell Wilson went down with a hand injury early in the year. Smith went 1-2 in games he started, completing 68.4% of his pass attempts for 702 yards, five touchdowns, and just one interception.
Smith signed with the Seahawks in 2021 on a one-year deal worth $1.2 million. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent when NFL Free Agency gets underway. The former New York Jets second-round draft pick has been in the league for eight years, making regular-season appearances with the Jets, Giants, Chargers, and Seahawks.
