The past offseason for former New York Jets star safety Jamal Adams has been quite difficult, but the moment when he found out he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks was one of pure joy.

According to Adams, 24, during his first media availability on Thursday, via Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune, the two-time Pro Bowl defensive back “broke down” in “tears of joy” upon hearing he was dealt to the NFC West franchise.

Jamal Adams also had a strong reaction due to his reverence to “Hall of Fame” coach Pete Carroll, the Super Bowl champion head coach of the Seahawks.

The Jets selected Adams with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft where he later turned into an All-Pro First Team safety and do-it-all defensive player. After troubles with management and Gang Green's head coach Adam Gase, entering his second year with the franchise in 2020, New York's general manager, Joe Douglas, decided to pull the trigger on a trade to send the former LSU safety across the country to the Seahawks.

The Adams trade came after a breakdown in contract extension negotiations between Adams and the Jets' front office, which the safety's side claimed weren't taking seriously or getting back to him; Adams is still on his rookie deal.

In exchange for Jamal Adams and a fourth-round pick, the Seahawks sent veteran safety Bradley McDougald along with two future first-round picks and a third-round selection to the Jets—a hefty price for the star safety in Adams.
