Seattle Seahawks Chris Carson was taken out in the middle of Week 9’s matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers with a lower-body injury and, as initially feared by Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, was not able to make it back to the field.

Although Condotta mentioned Carson’s leg, it’s actually the running back’s problematic hip that he seemed to have hurt. Carson was deemed questionable heading into the Chargers game due to a hip issue, but was ultimately given the green light to play moments before the contest.
Article Continues BelowCarson was a key contributor to the Seahawks’ offense before his premature exit from the game, as he had 40 rushing yards on just eight carries, which included a 15-yard gallop. However, he only had three rushing yards on eight attempts in the second quarter, possibly because he was being bothered by his ailing hip.
With Chris Carson removed from the game, the Seahawks turned to the pair of Mike Davis and rookie Rashaad Penny and quarterback Russell Wilson for production on the ground. Davis finished with 62 rushing yards on 15 carries, while Penny only had 11 on four attempts. Wilson, meanwhile, had 41 on five in a 25-17 loss to the Chargers.
If Carson is going to miss some time, Davis is likely going to be designated as the Seahawks’ starting running back, beginning in next week’s meeting with the Los Angeles Rams on the road.
