The Seattle Seahawks didn’t have a great day of training camp today, as first-round pick LJ Collier went down during the day. The young defensive end was carted off the field with what was initially thought to be a right leg injury, but now is being evaluated as an ankle injury according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Collier went down during an 11-on-11 drill, with the team practicing its two-minute sets. According to reports from those there, Collier was able to initially limp away from the scene, but eventually was carted off. Hopefully for both Collier and the team, the injury isn’t too concerning, and he’ll be able to return sooner rather than later.

Collier was drafted by the Seahawks with the 29th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. That selection came with the pick that the Seahawks received from the Kansas City Chiefs in the Frank Clark trade, and Collier was one of the many selections that the Seahawks made that night thanks to the trade. Along with Collier, the Seahawks hope to rebuild their defense as they go, especially with an explosive offense led by Russell Wilson already in place.

With Clark gone and the Seahawks building up a younger, fresher defense, the hope is that Collier is able to lead the team back to its ferocious days as one of the top defenses. As we wait to see just how bad the injury is, the Seahawks continue to hope for good news when it comes to just how severe his injury might be.
