The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly interested in reuniting with a former member of their coaching staff.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seahawks are eyeing another partnership with their former defensive coordinator in Gus Bradley. Bradley is currently the defensive coordinator of the L.A. Chargers, but his contract with the team is bound to expire at the end of this season. He was the Seahawks’ DC from 2009 to 2012.

ESPN's Adam Schefter dropped an intriguing nugget on “Sunday NFL Countdown,” saying the Seattle Seahawks have interest in bringing back one of their former defensive coordinators, Gus Bradley.

It is important to note, however, that nothing is definite yet in terms of what kind of role would Bradley have should he return to Seattle or how serious the Seahawks are in pursuing their former defense tactician.

Bradley is expected to field plenty of interest once his deal with the Chargers expires. After all, he just guided the Chargers’ stop unit into becoming one of the best in the NFL, ranking third overall in scoring defense with only 17.0 points per game allowed. The Chargers’ pass defense also ranked third with just 197.2 passing yards surrendered per week.

Seattle currently has Kris Richard as their defensive coordinator. However, it’s possible that he vacates that position soon for a coaching opportunity somewhere else, leaving the door open for a replacement.

Seattle's current defensive coordinator, Kris Richard, is still under contract. He reportedly interviewed for the Colts' head-coaching vacancy last week. Bradley would be an obvious candidate to take over should Richard land that job, which is the only one he's been linked to this offseason.

The Seahawks missed the playoffs this season for just the first time in six years, partly because of their mediocre defense that was just 13th in points allowed and 11h in total defense. That said, it was difficult for Seattle to be good on defense with Pro Bowlers Richard Sherman, Cliff Avril, and Kam Chancellor all missing games due to varying injuries.
