San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo could be on the move soon. There’s even a chance he could end up on a division rival.

With reports that the Seattle Seahawks could be interested in acquiring a veteran quarterback, Garoppolo could be the perfect addition. After choosing not to pursue Baker Mayfield, the Seahawks still have a need at the position.

With the season quickly approaching, if the 49ers want to make a move, they will have to do it soon. As the market has already dwindled to just a few names, Garoppolo should be at the top of their list, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Since choosing to part ways with Russell Wilson, the Seahawks currently have three quarterbacks on their roster. Drew Lock, Geno Smith, and Jacob Eason. Depending on how they choose to approach this season, they may feel like adding another quarterback is necessary.

Jimmy Garoppolo, an eight-year veteran, has all but lost the QB1 duties to Trey Lance. The two-time Super Bowl winner now finds himself in search of a new home.

Since entering the NFL in 2014, Garoppolo has appeared in 63 total games. He has thrown for 71 touchdowns, 11,852 yards, and 38 touchdowns. Garoppolo has added another five touchdowns on the ground. He has a record of 33-14.

While inter-division trades don't happen often, they are still always a possibility. The 49ers would have to figure out how to approach Garoppolo’s contract, which could be difficult. It could potentially end in the team just releasing him, but they would likely want to get something in return for him.
