For whatever the reason, it appears that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is going out of his way to lie about a timeout situation.

JuJu Smith-Schuster had a huge play late, which took up time, but put the Steelers in great position to earn the win. While a timeout was called, Big Ben claims he wasn't the one who called it.

“Interesting,” wrote NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala. “Ben Roethlisberger said the Steelers were still deciding whether to call timeout after that huge JuJu Smith-Schuster gain at the end of the Pats game, but ref Tony Corrente assumed he was — and whistled it.”

I don't know why Ben Roethlisberger would claim he didn't call it, as it was the right move to make, but media members are claiming he is fibbing about the entire ordeal.

“I love Ben, but this is blatantly not true on his part,” wrote Simon Chester of USA Today. “He can be clearly seen calling for the timeout as he runs down the field after JuJu’s big play for the Steelers.”

“On broadcast, Ben signals TO pretty quickly,” added ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

It is just a really weird thing for the quarterback to fib about (that is, as people are saying, he is lying).

The QB's reputation outside of Pittsburgh has always been a bit murky. Between some heavy allegations earlier in his career, to some pretending he plays-up his own injuries, this only adds fuel to the anti-Ben fire.
