One of the league's most dangerous deep threats is on the move once again. According to multiple reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneeers wide receiver DeSean Jackson will not be returning to the team.

The three-time Pro Bowler first announced the news on social media, thanking the Buccaneers for a “great experience.”

ESPN's Dianna Russini subsequently reported that Tampa Bay has yet to officially release Jackson, which could mean that a trade may still be in the works.

News of his departure from the Buccaneers certainly isn't surprising. Jackson has underperformed the three-year, $33.5 million contract he signed with Tampa Bay in March of 2017, a deal that didn't include a signing bonus. As such, the team will save approximately $10 million worth of cap space by signing him.

Jackson led the NFL in yards per catch last season, the fourth time he's managed that feat in his career, but caught just 41 passes. His impact was similarly muted compared to his reputation a year earlier, when he had 50 catches for 668 yards and three touchdowns.

Jackson's days as a superstar are almost surely over. He hasn't produced at that type of level since his last season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013, and at 32, he doesn't quite have the truly game-changing speed that was a hallmark of his first few years in the NFL.

Still, he clearly has a couple years left in the tank, at least, as a third receiver that can stretch the field and open up a team's offense.

On Sunday night, ESPN's Jenna Laine and Tim McManus reported that Tampa Bay was shopping Jackson, and that his ultimate hope was to land back with the Eagles.
