Tom Brady is the eldest player on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he continues to show leadership on and off the field. While the Buccaneers prepare to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Leonard Fournette shared that Brady has a lot of father-like tendencies.
“It’s so funny because, you know, he’s 43 years old, you know what I mean?” Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette said recently on SiriusXM NFL Radio, via JoeBucsFan.com, regarding quarterback Tom Brady. “It’s like your father calling you to come do something. He’s always calling me and the running backs [after practice], ‘Hey Lenny, Shady [McCoy], Ro [Jones], come get some routes.’ And that’s what we do, and it’s paying off right now.”
Fournette signed with the Buccaneers and joined Tom Brady before the season began following his release from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite having a relatively quiet regular season, Fournette has ramped up his production in Tampa Bay's first three playoff games.
The former No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft has contributed 313 yards and three touchdowns in the three postseason contests leading up to the Super Bowl. While Fournette could be considered a veteran player himself, Brady is the ultimate professional as he's playing in his 10th Super Bowl in his 21st season in the NFL.
Brady isn't old enough to be Fournette's father as they are separated by 16 years and some change. Regardless of Brady acting like a father toward some of his new teammates, it's obviously working as Fournette and company are one win away from hoisting the Lombardi trophy.
