Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement on Tuesday. The future Hall of Fame tight end enjoyed a terrific career that saw him paint quite the legacy. He is a Patriots legend and even won another late-career Super Bowl alongside Tom Brady in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers. After sitting out 2019 and returning in 2020, fans made jokes about another potential return following Gronk's latest retirement announcement. However, Gronkowski's agent Drew Rosenhaus is not slamming the door on a return down the road, per Adam Schefter.
“It would not surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season to come back and Rob answers the call. This is just my opinion but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season.”
In reaction to Rob Gronkowski’s news, his agent Drew Rosenhaus texts: “It would not surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season to come back and Rob answers the call. This is just my opinion but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season.”

It is unclear if Rosenhaus was joking or being serious. But the fact that a well-respected NFL insider like Adam Schefter felt the need to share Rosenhaus's comments with the public is noteworthy.
Tom Brady announced his retirement earlier in the offseason before backtracking on the decision a few weeks later. Brady is now gearing up for the 2022 season. And it wouldn't be shocking if the legendary QB requests Gronk's services at some point next year.
But Rob Gronkowski's official statement via his Instagram makes it seem as if he is closing the door on a return.

Whether Rob Gronkowski has played his final snap in the NFL or not, he will be remembered as one of the greatest tight ends the game has ever seen.
