The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made some substantial changes thus far this offseason. They have gotten a head start on shoring up their backfield with the addition of running back Andre Ellington.

Eliington spent the 2018 NFL season as a free agent. However, he will have a chance to secure a job in Tampa Bay,via Bucs Twitter:

Ellington will be reunited with head coach Bruce Arians. The two spent nearly five seasons together with the Arizona Cardinals. They are hoping to re=create some elements of their success in Tampa Bay.

Ellington was selected by Arizona in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft during Arians' first season as head coach. He was able to etch out a complementary role in the offense thanks to his versatile skill set as both a runner and a receiver.

He registered 1,750 yards and 10 touchdowns on 413 carries to go with 145 receptions for 1,296 yards and three touchdowns during his stint under Arians.

Ellington has an opportunity to fill the void left by running back Jacquizz Rodgers. Rodgers has largely served as their change-of-pace back in the passing game, which would certainly suit Ellington's style of play.

Meanwhile, it appears running backs Ronald Jones II and Peyton Barber will continue to compete for early down work.

The Buccaneers have relied heavily on the passing game in recent years.

Although Arians is still committed to quarterback Jameis Winston under center, itis safe to say that they will try a more balanced approach on offense moving forward.
