The Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave it a good run, but in the end, it is the Los Angeles Rams that are celebrating a trip to the NFC Championship game as they clinched a dramatic 30-27 win in the NFC divisional round.

The Buccaneers mounted a 24-point comeback in the second half, which was topped off by a 9-yard touchdown run by running back Leonard Fournette over the late stages of the fourth quarter. Still, the Rams got the last laugh, as a 30-yard field goal by Matt Gay in the final seconds of the game sent the reigning Super Bowl champions out of the playoffs.

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans played an instrumental role in the comeback, which included a 55-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter. Still, as he touched on during his post-game press conference, he sees that he could have done more in the contest.

“Just really disappointed in myself,” Evans said. “Early on I didn’t make enough plays.

“Wish I could have played better.”

As was the case in the Buccaneers’ NFC wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Tom Brady connected with Evans for multiple key completions in the game, as the veteran wideout hauled in eight receptions for 119 receiving yards and one touchdown against the Rams.

While the Buccaneers will have plenty of dilemmas that will need to be addressed in the offseason, they will not see any concern as to Evans’ status with the team, especially as he has two more seasons remaining on his contract.

Evans finished the campaign with 1,271 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns in 18 games played, including the playoffs.
