On Tuesday, news surfaced that future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski had decided to retire from the game of football. That surely deflated some Buccaneers fans hoping he would make his return with Tom Brady one last time. However, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter revealed a text from Gronkowski's agent, Drew Rosenhaus. In his opinion, he would not be surprised to see the former Buccaneers tight end come out of retirement either during this season or next were Brady to call him.
In reaction to Rob Gronkowski’s news, his agent Drew Rosenhaus texts: “It would not surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season to come back and Rob answers the call. This is just my opinion but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season.”

Brady as usual was paying close attention. He took the opportunity to show his strong GIF game on Twitter.

Brady posted the famous GIF of someone making a phone call.
The Buccaneers are shaping up to be one of the best teams in football once again. They are among the favorites to win Super Bowl LVII. Obviously, Brady coming out of retirement himself has a big part of that. Tampa Bay was also able to re-sign some key players including Leonard Fournette and Chris Godwin. But the Buccaneers were not satisfied with just that. They went out and brought in Logan Ryan and Akiem Hicks on defense. They also signed Russell Gage and Shaq Mason on offense.
But one hole on offense will be at tight end with the news of Gronkowski's retirement. They will start Cameron Brate at tight end, who is a viable red zone threat. But he does not possess much else. The team is very thin at that position as well, making Tuesday's news that much more concerning.
But as Rosenhaus even said, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Brady drops Gronk a line during the season and reels him back in for the stretch run.
