A Testaverde is going to be back in the NFL at least for a weekend with Vincent Testaverde getting a rookie minicamp tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His college coach Greg Gattuso of the University of Albany announced the news on Twitter.

Thirty-two years ago, the Buccaneers took his dad, Vinny Testaverde, with the number one overall pick in the 1987 draft.
The younger Testaverde started his college career with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but transferred after one year to the Miami Hurricanes, but never really stuck on with them either. He played last season with the Albany Great Danes, throwing for 1,714 yards and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 214.2 passing yards a game while completing 53.4 percent of his passes.
Article Continues BelowVinny holds the Buccaneers' all-time passing yards record, throwing for 14,820 yards in six years. That is a record that will probably be broken by Jameis Winston this year, who is only 192 passing yards behind Testaverde's record.
Even though Vincent is getting a tryout, it's still a long shot he will be on the team during training camp. He will really have to impress during the couple day rookie minicamp and even then it might not be enough for the team to offer him a contract.
Even if he doesn't get a contract and this is the only shot he gets in the NFL, this is still a cool story that probably means a lot to the family. To get to put on the same jersey that his dad wore to start his career is awesome.
