With Terry McLaurin already ruled out for the Washington Commanders, it sounds like there is some concern growing around teammate Deebo Samuel. The franchise is set to take on the Dallas Cowboys, but the wide receiver room might be incredibly thin in the Week 7 matchup.
Sameul, who is 29 years old, hinted that his status for Sunday's contest is up in the air, according to John Keim of ESPN. Reports indicate that the Commanders' star is dealing with a heel injury.”
“WR Deebo Samuel said, ‘We'll just have to see,' when asked about playing Sunday. He said the heel is ‘aggravating for sure.'”
The seven-year pro has played in all six games for the Commanders so far this season. He has stepped up in a big way with McLaurin having missed the previous three games with a quad injury. Deebo Samuel has served as one of the top weapons in the offense, recording 34 receptions, 315 receiving yards, and four total touchdowns (three receiving).
Head coach Dan Quinn still has time to evaluate Samuel before Sunday's contest. Teams tend to release the inactive list the day before the game. Additionally, the Commanders will have until 90 minutes before kickoff to determine whether or not Deebo Samuel will play in the Week 7 matchup.
With McLaurin already out and Samuel seemingly questionable, the offense will need Chris Moore, Luke McCaffrey, and Jaylin Lane to step up. Tight end Zach Ertz might just be the biggest beneficiary of targets if Samuel is a no-go on Sunday. The Commanders also signed former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks to the practice squad, so he could be called up to the active roster.
