Things have not been great for the Washington Football Team this week. The team is experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19, pushing their Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles to Tuesday. Washington will be without numerous key players, including quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

The good news for Washington is that defensive end Montez Sweat is expected to return from a lengthy absence in time to face the Eagles. Head coach Ron Rivera said that Sweat has been putting in work in his time recovering.

Sweat returning is particularly great news for the Football Team, which has an abundance of defensive ends on the COVID-19 reserve list and is missing Chase Young with an ACL tear. The 25-year-old hasn't played since Week 8 due to a jaw injury and a case of coronavirus. He recorded four sacks and 12 hits on quarterbacks in those contests and has tallied at least seven sacks in his previous two seasons.

The Eagles, who are coming off of their bye week, should be getting starting quarterback Jalen Hurts back from injury. Washington is 6-7, still well within the hunt for a playoff spot in the NFC. Philadelphia is 6-7 as well, and they will square off with Washington twice in three weeks.

These games could have huge implications for the playoff picture. Unfortunately for the Football Team, they will be without numerous key players due to COVID protocols.
