Why The Blues Can Cover The Spread/Win

The St. Louis Blues have slowly been losing their spot in the standings as they've dropped from second in the Central to now the first wild card seed – but just one point behind the Predators for third place in the division. The Blues' offense is still very present in their play, but their defense hasn't been very strong all season. They acquired Nick Leddy at the trade deadline to help on the back end, but he's really just filling a spot for Torey Krug until he can return to the lineup. There's no official work on who will be starting in net tonight as the Blues have a 1A and 1B set of goaltenders through Ville Husso and Jordan Binnington. Regardless of who starts, the Blues will need to score more goals if they want to walk away with two more points tonight.

Why The Canucks Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Vancouver Canucks come into this game just four points outside of a playoff position. As long as they keep grinding for points, the Canucks could very well sneak into the playoffs and make a solid impact. With that said, they, unfortunately, made zero moves at the trade deadline and will continue to keep the chemistry building for themselves. Backup goaltender Jaroslav Halak was in net for the Canucks on Monday, so we should be seeing their starting netminder, Thatcher Demko get the start between the pipes tonight. Demko has been playing fantastic lately as he is holding a .917 save percentage and allowing 2.66 goals against per game. He'll look to get his club a win tonight and help them move closer to that playoff spot.

Final Blues-Canucks Prediction & Pick

This is one of those games where anything can happen at any time and easily shift momentum from one team to the other. This almost feels like a gut call, and call me crazy, but I like the Canucks at home tonight, especially with Demko guarding the crease. They need to string some wins together if they want a shot at the playoffs, and I think this is the game to do it. The Blues are a very good team as well, but it's extremely difficult to beat the same team twice in a row. Give me the Canucks Moneyline at home tonight.

Final Blues-Canucks Prediction and Pick: Canucks Moneyline (-114)
