Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler are back at UFC 266! Nick Diaz being back also means Fight Week shenanigans are back too!

Diaz surprised everyone when he made a last-minute request to change the weight class of the fight. The two were originally set to fight at welterweight, now, Diaz wants the fight to take place at middleweight.

Ariel Helwani first reported the news on his Substack. Nick Diaz has had a lot of requests for the fight including making it a five-round non-title bout.

The fight with Nick Diaz will still be taking place at UFC 266 and the contest will still be for five rounds. The change in weight is the only thing different so far.

Dana White spoke with reporters Tuesday to discuss the change. He reminded everyone that this was typical Nick Diaz and that everyone forgot since it's been so long.

The reason for the change hasn't been specified but when asked White simply replied: “[Nick Diaz] probably just doesn't want to make weight.” An answer that doesn't tell you anything.

Many are speculating that Nick Diaz is having a thought time cutting weight again after six years away from the sport. Sometimes the body doesn't respond to the weight cut when you're older.

Robbie Lawler was contacted by Dana White over text, he was flying to Vegas while everything was happening. Lawler told Dana that they will ‘talk' when he lands.

It's not completely clear if Lawler will agree with the change but the odds of the fight getting cancelled are slim.
