The Denver Nuggets will travel to where the sun shines as they tip-off with the Los Angeles Clippers in what should be an entertaining showdown. Join us for our NBA odds series, where our Nuggets-Clippers prediction and pick will be revealed.

After suffering back-to-back losses, the Nuggets were able to get back in the win column on Sunday night with a 132-120 victory over the lowly San Antonio Spurs. As it stands, Denver is 11-6 which is good enough for fourth-place in the Western Conference. With a 3-6 road record up to this point, can the Nuggets get back on the right track away from their home building starting tonight?

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is still in the thick of things when it comes to finding their identity but they have happened to win four of their last five games and seemingly are slowly but surely starting to gel as a team on the hardwood.

Most recently, it was the Clippers that humiliated the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 107-88 on their home court. With an exuberant amount of confidence under their belts, could the Clippers finally be heading down a winning path?

Why The Nuggets Could Cover The Spread

All in all, the Nuggets record this regular season through 17 games is the same exact mark from a year ago over that same span. Obviously, it was Denver that ended up with the top seed in the wild, wild, west en route to a rock-solid 53-29 overall record.

In a recent rut that has seen the Nuggets go an average 5-5 over the last ten games overall, Denver will head into Monday night with a slew of playmakers that are questionable to play due to injury. Playing on short rest, the Nuggets have currently listed Nikola Jokic as questionable and will already be without the services of Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray who are nursing injuries of themselves.

Indeed, if the Nuggets are without three of their top players, it may come down to Michael Porter Jr. to lead the way in scoring with a youthful bench needing to show up in a big way. Lately, Denver's bench has left much to be desired, but it is hard to deny their talent.

At the end of the day, the bench overcoming their inexperience with some solid minutes could be the deciding factor on the way to covering the +7.5 point spread as underdogs.

Why The Clippers Could Cover The Spread

On the other side of things, could the Clippers be well on their way to living up to lofty expectations?

More specifically, finding some unity within this lineup has been all about consistency. The biggest knock on this team throughout the years has been in large part due to their inability of staying healthy.

However, a major milestone has been reached as the duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have now played together in 15 consecutive games which is a personal record since the two became Clippers back in 2019. Most of the time, Clippers fans have been extremely frustrated due to the fragile nature of this roster, but there seems to be bright days on the horizon.

With the overall health of this squad in good standing, don't be surprised if newcomer James Harden continues to distribute the basketball to the fullest degree. Remember, despite all of the drama that Harden created during his time in Philadelphia, he still led the league in assists and is currently tied for fifth this year in that same statistical category. Whenever Harden has that pass-first mentality, his team is that much better because of it.

Not to mention, but LA has also found their footing on the defensive end of the floor. On paper, the Clippers are only letting the opposition score 108.1 points per game while holding teams to 44.8 percent shooting all together.

Alas, if Los Angeles can play aggressive defensively and force Denver to some erratic shots, then they'll be in fairly good shape to cover the spread in front of the home crowd on Monday evening.

Final Nuggets-Clippers Prediction & Pick

Even though some names on the Nuggets may not be playing in this one, the intensity on both ends of the court should be at a premium. By the time the final buzzer sounds, it is probably wise to side with the Clippers and the spread simply due to the Nuggets possibly being shorthanded in this one.

Final Nuggets-Clippers Prediction & Pick: Clippers -7.5 (-106)
