The Ohio State football team was called the most talented in the country recently by former Head Coach Urban Meyer, a man who knows a thing or two about talent. Meyer won the 2014 national championship as the Buckeyes' head coach, a goal current Buckeyes head man Ryan Day is still trying to reach.

The Buckeyes brought in an impressive haul of talent both in the recruiting cycle and in the transfer portal this offseason, giving them a leg up on everyone else in the Big Ten going into next season according to most preseason prognosticators. Now, the Buckeyes are being tagged as the early favorites to beat the defending champion Michigan football team in their rivalry matchup this upcoming fall.

The information was passed on during a time when Sherrone Moore declared war on the Buckeyes by stealing one of their brightest in-program stars. Meanwhile, Day and the Buckeyes got one step closer to landing a hulking dream prospect.

The Buckeyes' latest odds were given to them by Circa Sports, which released its betting odds for the biggest early season matchups.

Ohio State football is favored by a whopping 10 points in the early season odds released by the Sparks, Nevada based sportsbook.

The Buckeyes have an edge at quarterback according to most analysts now that Kansas State transfer Will Howard is in the program, and also added one of the top running backs in the country in Quinshon Judkins of Ole Miss.

Caleb Downs was added this offseason to boost the secondary while the Buckeyes return star players on both sides of the football.

Last Ohio State win was 2019

The Ohio State football team's last win over the Wolverines was in 2019, one year before the COVID-19 situation unfolded causing the game to be canceled.

The Buckeyes won that contest 56-27 as current Pittsburgh Steelers QB Justin Fields threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns. The Buckeyes should have an edge in the passing game this season, although the Wolverines will be formidable on the ground and on defense.

If Coach Day's team can pull off the win, a trip to the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff will almost certainly result.
