Lincoln Riley was officially introduced as the new coach of the USC Trojans on Tuesday. He surprisingly left the Oklahoma Sooners for the vacant position in one of college football's finest teams.

Right away, Riley made a bold claim during his press conference as USC's new tactician:

“This is going to be the mecca of college football.”

His former player, Sooners defensive lineman Isaiah Thomas, however, immediately roasted Riley for his remark. He replied to a tweet that quoted Riley's statement (via ESPN College Football):

“Told us that last week.”

Although he kept it short, Thomas did not hold back on Riley who, just last week, was still coaching him and the Sooners. The USC transfer blindsided most, especially after Riley's recent assurances that he was not leaving Oklahoma.

In his four seasons with Oklahoma, Riley guided the Sooners to four consecutive Big 12 titles and three College Football Playoff appearances. The Sooners were eliminated from the Big 12 championship game this season after losing to Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Thomas's sly dig at his former coach implies that, before leaving for USC, Riley tried to convince his players that Oklahoma would be the best place for college football. But with his statement in his USC press conference, it appears Riley has the same vision and is using the same pep talk for his new Trojans side.

In his fourth season at Oklahoma, Thomas made 38 total tackles, 45 solo tackles, and 35 assist tackles. He has also defended four passes and made seven sacks.
