Lance Stephenson’s current 10-day contract with the Indiana Pacers has come to an end. This is already his fourth 10-day deal with the team which means that the Pacers can no longer offer him another short-term contract.

The good news for Stephenson is that according to multiple reports, Indiana has decided to table a deal that will see the 31-year-old veteran remain with the squad for the remainder of the season:

There you have it, folks. Born Ready isn’t going anywhere. After playing his part for the Pacers in the 17 games he’s taken part of this season, Stephenson has earned himself a nice payday for the rest of the campaign. Lance is a fan favorite and I’m pretty sure this development is going to be welcomed by Indiana supporters everywhere.

The Pacers have been linked to a mid-season overhaul as the trade deadline approaches. Indiana has reportedly put its stars on the trade block, which could put this Stephenson decision into perspective. If the Pacers do end up parting ways with a handful of players on their roster then they might need to lean on guys like Stephenson to help them the rest of the way. Even if Indiana doesn’t shake up its roster in the coming weeks, Stephenson can still be an important part of the rotation for the remainder of the campaign.
