Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones admits there's plenty of “uncertainty” regarding not only his future but others in the locker room as he gets ready for free agency.
Jones recently spoke to CBS Sports about his situation:
“It’s a lot of uncertainty right now with what’s going on. You got a lot of great players in that locker room who all deserve to get paid. However it works out, it’s going to work out.
“I haven’t really thought about playing with any other team. I’m just depressing from the season, you know like taking a step back from the season. I’m just talking to my agent seeing how things are going to work out. I haven’t really thought about teams.”
Jones is interested in returning to Green Bay. The former sixth-round pick finished each of the last two seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards and at least 11 total touchdowns. That production will get Jones paid by somebody, but it's unclear if the Packers are going to be the team to pay him.
The Packers reached the NFC Championship Game the last two seasons, only to fall short both times. The latest loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sparked some interesting comments from Aaron Rodgers about the future of the team, though it looks like the MVP won't actually be going anywhere.
Jones is certainly a big fan of Rodgers, but in terms of his own status, the running back's focus isn't yet on free agency as he unwinds from the 2020 season.
