Like the rest of the league, the Green Bay Packers are preparing for the start of the 2022 NFL season. Aaron Rodgers is set to play his 19th season with the Packers.

The veteran quarterback told The Athletic what he has seen this offseason from his ever-changing offensive line. It wasn't the traditional media answer, but definitely a humorous response on brand with the four-time MVP.

Rodgers discussed the physical changes he has noticed in Royce Newman as he enters his sophomore season with the Packers:

“Royce looks heavier. He might not look the same coming out of the shower to his girlfriend as he did last year. I feel like his belly got a little bigger, but that might make him a better right guard. And he played a ton of football for us. We’ve got some young kids in the mix, too, but I like where the line’s at.”

Currently, Newman is listed at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds, the same as he was at Ole Miss.

As for the overall state of the Packers‘ offensive line, Rodgers is confident. That is, if Elgton Jenkins and David Bakhtiari are healthy to start the season:

“I think it looks pretty good right now. You put 69 and Elgton back, that’s a real good offensive line. So we feel good about it.”

“69,” AKA veteran tackle David Bakhtiari, only played in one game for the Packers last season due to an ACL tear he suffered at the end of the 2020 season. Meanwhile, Elgton Jenkins suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 11 of the 2021 season.

Bakhtiari didn't participate in any offseason training, but the team expects him to be ready to go for the start of the upcoming season. Elgton was present at OTAs but did not participate.
