Legendary NFL quarterback Brett Favre appears to be off the hook for now as he has apparently righted a major wrong. It was recently revealed that Favre, who played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, and New York Jets as a result of his illustrious professional football career, was paid more than $1.1 million for appearances that he never attended.

However, Favre has since agreed to pay back every dollar of the more than $1 million in unearned payment.

“I want to applaud Mr. Favre for his good faith effort to make this right and make the taxpayers and TANF families whole,” Auditor Shad White said in an official statement on Wednesday, via ESPN. “To date, we have seen no records indicating Mr. Favre knew that TANF was the program that served as the source of the money he was paid.”

Although there were no specific reasons given for Favre's seemingly repeated absences, the original audit report that uncovered the $1.1 million sum clearly stated that there was evidence to show that the Packers cornerstone did not attend certain events in which he was still paid for.

“Upon a cursory review of those dates, auditors were able to determine that the individual contracted did not speak nor was he present for those events,” the original audit report stated, via ESPN.

The now 50-year-old signal-caller and Mississippi native has not played in the NFL since all the way back in 2010 while doing so as a member of the aforementioned Vikings.
